Feeling confident in my teaching ability, I gave it a try, combining what I know and practice of Native American and Old West traditions from oral history and a lifetime of study to students around the planet, asking them to learn the Horse's own language and become One with the Horse wherever they are. Not only did it work, I was astounded at the degree of success achieved by students from Germany, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, the UK, Ireland and westward across Canada, the United States, Argentina, Australia and Japan.
I got a lovely message from one of my amazing students highlighting what happened in one shining day within the herd at Fearless and Free Equine Therapy in Tasmania, Australia as a result of Rozlyn Lambert's study of Liberty Foundations Online. Roz's Arabian mare Tajara lives there along with her herd. While Roz works with Taj separately, she has advanced her skill to the point that several of the horses have begun to practice the Foundations within the herd! Tajara couldn't be touched in the beginning, but has made dramatic changes! Enjoy Roz's description of 'Horse Heaven Down Under!'
"Hiya all! I thought I'd share the a few of the happenings of the last few days, all of which have been made better through Liberty Foundations Online!
"Yesterday my bestie Leah came 'round to visit me with the horses. We let 5 horses that were together out into the driveway/backyard for a run. After awhile of us just sitting with them we thought it would be nice to go out for a walk. Leah caught Gaisha and I got Taj's halter and lead. I looked at Taj and asked if she wanted to go out for a walk and some grass. Taj actually came over and allowed me to put her halter on willingly. (She hasn't liked it since I removed hers when she first arrived, and I've only put one on her twice since I've had her (hoof trim and one walk.) So we went for a little walk down the road with plenty of stops for grass along the way. It was a pleasure to do this following Ruella's instructions on the Liberty Foundations way of leading Taj. Towards the end of the walk I just plonked myself down and let her eat with Gaisha while Leah and I had a chat. It was so lovely and relaxed.
After our walk Leah and I had a picnic in the meditation area with Taj. She was curious and really wanted to check out our food but was incredibly gentle about it. I asked her to move out of our space with barely a whisper of energy and she did, so I led her to the hay pile which had treats in it. After that she didn't bother us. She just came and stood by us; it was heaven.
"After this we thought it might be a good idea to open up all the paddocks and let all the horses in together allowing plenty of escape routes; this went incredibly well. Taj again tried to greet a new horse, Hosanna, which was met with indifference. I think Hosey was trying to protect her friend Ash from the others even though there was no threat. At one point our lead mare Coco went over to Hosey and gently pointed out that it was her herd and she was taking care of things; Hosey submitted; it was subtle but unmistakably clear and incredible to see. Coco has this amazing air about her; if I can manage even half of what she is/has in my life I will be happy. She inspires and teaches and humbles me daily. By this evening they had started to settle into things. Hosanna even accepted Taj being Coco's apprentice. Taj like Coco was firm but gentle. We also had someone call in with a bag of apples and treats tonight and they all took turns; a few including Taj went to get funny, but I put my hand up in a stop motion and said no and so they waited. Amazing!
"I am so grateful for the Foundations and your wonderful instruction Ruella, without which our herd would not be so harmonious or together as a whole. We haven't gotten to the last Foundation yet, but so much else has happened with the whole herd that I know this will come soon. Taj comes to me half the time when I call her now and often walks towards me when I go to greet her. I can't express my gratitude enough."
"Today was absolutely wonderful! The whole time I was with the horses today the vibe was completely calm and relaxed! It was heaven! Taj let me brush her for the very first time which was magical. (She normally puts her ears back and walks away if you take a brush anywhere near her.)
She wasn't anywhere near as pushy with the food when we practiced Staking a Claim. We did Walking a Horse Down all around our meditation area and even had a good bit of side by side. I was able to hide some treats in her hay piles and lead her to them side by side. It was just so amazing. I didn't need as much energy; in fact sometimes it only took a whisper. I feel like I had a glimpse of heaven."
"Today I really felt like she was explaining to me that she already knows the Foundations, and that it is I who is learning them from scratch, and that I should just trust her the same way I'm asking her to trust me and she will help teach and guide me.
"She never fails to leave me with a sense of wonder at how intuitive and giving she can be. When I leave my adult brain behind and open my heart with a wild, free and child-like wonder I feel like her spirit joins with mine as if she is guiding and walking with me through this journey of discovery!
"I often feel like she says 'when the time is right youngster together we will spread our wings and soar like a horse and eagle all in one!'
I may not have achieved what I wanted to today but when I stopped and listened without my ears we achieved together so much more than I could ever have intended or asked for. I am eternally grateful."
